Possibly Edwardian, or perhaps a little later – a charming dark stained wooden perpetual calendar with date, day and month turning on wooden spindles.
Forget the digital display – this sits on any desk, mantelpiece or windowcill and invites you to engage with it, any day.
It stands just 21cms high and is 14cms x 7.5cms at its base. The day, date and month feature on fabric scrolls turned via four wooden spindles. Apertures are glazed to protect the fabric. The scrolls are all intact.
The dark stained wooden case has a fine patina. There is one aged minor split in the wood behind the glass face, delicately repaired several decades ago, but otherwise it is in good condition. And it is wonderfully undemanding – no maintenance required.
Sorry. It’s sold. But keep coming back. I’m trying to source others in equally good condition.
